Do you need to say no

If you are a quiet leader, you are probably also an affiliative leader, or have a preference for this. It’s where you sit naturally. It’s your comfort zone. And you are really good at it! An affiliative leader seeks harmony, doesn’t really like confrontation and will do pretty much anything to avoid it. Even if that means doing extra work, doing something themselves rather than risk someone’s resistance to being asked and even when they are already too busy. Saying yes is easier in the moment, but you might pay a high price for it. Suddenly, you look at your day and you are double-booked or just don’t see how you are going to accomplish all that you’ve said yes to. Setting boundaries is crucial for quiet, affiliative leaders.
